The SalzAlpenSteig combines historical salt trade routes into a cross-border premium hiking trail. The starting point of the approximately 230-kilometre-long route is located at Lake Chiemsee. From here, active holiday guests walk across the Chiemgau, the salt city of Bad Reichenhall, the spa town of Bayerisch Gmain to Berchtesgaden as well as the Salzburg Tennengau. Once there, it is not far to their destination Dachstein-Salzkammergut.
